About a week ago, I posted two pictures (one of them is this one) on Facebook that gathered some interest among my photographer friends. The pictures were of an impromptu meet-up with some of the finest amateur/hobbyist/semi-pro/pro photographers in Chicago after bumping into them at the Luminous Field, Luftwerk’s seminal light and music exhibit at Cloud Gate on Feb 18, 2012.
Earlier that week, on February 9, some of these photographers were invited to a preview of Luminous Field – a temporary installation on Cloud Gate so extraordinarily beautiful to photograph – that prompted many of us – to come back everyday for the few days that the exhibit was on. Here’s a filmstrip of a few representative pictures of Luminous Field during that preview:

The 12th of February was probably my third or fourth day to visit the exhibit, so during that time, my focus was on photographing the photographers. Here are some of them in action including the post photoshoot gathering at a nearby Starbucks. Some of us knew of each other on Flickr and for a few, this was the first time that we meeting each other. We literally bumped into each other at the Bean, or in some cases, others recognized pictures from their Flickr page and introduced themselves, and those who already knew each other and were talking to each other were overheard by others who introduced then themselves to one another and still to others whom they knew were there. If that makes sense. It was quite an out of this world encounter, so to speak, so many of us decided to have food and conversation after the exhilarating shoot.

Don’t know if we can be able to replicate this experience again. :-(.
